My full-time job is teaching students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, but I've worn many hats over the years: ASL educational interpreter, veterinary assistant, vet tech, and teacher of a wide range of subjects for more than 20 years.
Along the way, my passion for dog training has grown exponentially. I have learned from kind, local trainers as well as internationally renowned professionals. I have also spent years helping friends train their dogs, co-teaching classes, running my own classes, and working with my own pups. Officially launching Bark Academy, LLC has been a dream come true!
My approach is to help companion pets and their humans build strong, happy relationships through basic manners and foundation obedience. I am also an AKC Certified Evaluator for S.T.A.R. Puppy, CGC, Virtual Home Manners, Tricks and Fit Dog.
I don't claim to be an expert in every area. If your dog has special behavioral needs, such as extreme aggression, or if you have high-level performance goals, I will make sure you are connected to the right trainer. You and your dog deserve the best support possible.

While I am definitely proud of the titles & ribbons we've earned, as well as the goals we've reached over the years, I'm most proud of having dogs I can take anywhere. They are happy, well-adjusted, and comfortable in all kinds of places from parades and campsites, to hotel rooms and busy sidewalks. They come along to most training sessions as demo dogs and even as dogs who help other dogs work through their own frustrations. I love seeing them enjoy life, whether they are swimming, retrieving, hiking, or just stretched out in someone's lap. At the end of the day, that is what really makes me proud.
I'm in love with my training room! It's not huge, but it is very functional! It is great to have a safe, training space where we can get out of the elements & control the distractions!
